Description: Este conjunto de datos contiene la delimitación de las diferentes masas de agua existentes en las aguas del estado español en función de sus parámetros físicos, químicos, biológicos y geográficos. Esta información se corresponde al Descriptor 5 "Eutrofización" de la Parte IV "Descriptores del Buen Estado Ambiental" del informe “Estrategias Marinas: Evaluación inicial, buen estado ambiental y objetivos ambientales". La zonificación se ha realizado y estructurado en base a las Demarcaciones Marinas correspondientes a las Estrategia Marina de España. Se entiende por Demarcaciones Marinas las subdivisiones de las regiones y subregiones marinas que constituyen el ámbito espacial sobre el cual se desarrollará cada estrategia marina, y son cinco: Noratlántica, Sudatlántica, Estrecho y Alborán, Levantino-Balear y Canaria (Artículo 6.2 de la Ley 41/2010, de 29 de diciembre, de protección del medio marino). Las Demarcaciones Marinas se emplean como unidades marinas (MRU o Marine Report Unit) de ámbito nacional para la notificación a la Comisión Europea de acuerdo a la Directiva 2008/56/CE del Parlamento Europeo y del Consejo, por la que se establece un marco de acción comunitaria para la política del medio marino (Directiva Marco sobre la Estrategia Marina, o Marine Strategy Framework Directive - MSFD).La información ha sido recogida, procesada y analizada por la Unidad de Eutrofización del Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO) en el Centro Oceanográfico de Málaga, dirigida por el Dr. Jesús Mercado Carmona. En base a los resultados obtenidos por este equipo de investigación, la Unidad de Sistemas de Información Geográfica del IEO fue la encargada del cartografiado.
